Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

The contacts with older rocks are tectonic

Upper contact

It is overlain by the suite (according to V.P.T. Bulin and G.V. Kuznetsov - unconformably, and according to B.P. Barhatov - without apparent angular unconformity) by boulder breccial conglomerates of the Upper Pliocene - Lower Quaternary Bahmaljilgin Gr.

Regional extent

It is found in the Southwest Pamir on small areas in the interfluve of the Varsidzdar-Duzakhdar and in the valley of the Yulmazar River.

Fossils

S.I. Klunnikov et al. (1936), B.P. Barhatov (1963), V.P. Bulin and G.V. Kuznetsov collected in the Varsidz Fm remains of bivalves, corals, and brachiopods, which have poor preservation.

Age

The fossil data do not define the age of the rocks more accurately than Jurassic. This suite is conditionally attributed to the Middle Jurassic, based on some similarity to the Middle Jurassic formations of the Southeastern Pamir. B.P. Barhatov (1963) considered them conditionally Middle to Upper Jurassic.
